Villa Rusutsu is a boutique mountain lodge development made up of nine log chalets (all but one are semi-detached) and a central shared building. In addition to the elegantly rustic log chalets, Villa Rusutsu offers a restaurant, bar and lounge all within the park development. It serves as a reliable, safe and soothing hub from which to explore the magnificent delights of Rusutsu, which has a fantastic mountain infrastructure as well as much less crowds than nearby Niseko.
There are three different chalet options to choose from here, each with a slightly different layout. First, there are the one-bedroom villas which can sleep two guests or three if you add an extra futon. There are two different types of two-bedroom villas, both sleeping up to five guests with an extra futon. The most luxurious option are the two-bedroom villas which come with their own private Jacuzzis and a lounge area with a cosy fireplace.
For all guests regardless of the villa you’re staying in, Villa Rusutsu’s services also include daily breakfast, a shuttle service around the development and to the ski lifts, tour desk and concierge as well as front desk support. During the green season, you can even play tennis right on the premises!

Rusutsu Chalets are charming accommodations, predominantly constructed with wood. I appreciate the convenience of having an onsite bar and restaurant available for guests. This quaint ski lodge is an ideal choice for couples or families planning a trip to Hokkaido.

Interesting villa. A great wooden cabin with modern furniture can be a wonderful blend of rustic charm and contemporary comfort. It feels like home and so comfortable.
Alastair –
A wood cabin nestled in the snow is quintessentially romantic. I have always loved the style of these villas and find the club house bar and restaurant intoxicating – such a warm vibe.
Sara –
The property is undergoing a refurb in 2024 and after seeing the new style chalets, they are fantastic! Modern furnishings that are comfortable and stylish in a cool Canadian style wood chalet. There is a main restaurant and cigar bar that is open daily which has a cool vibe. For something a little different, this is it!
Ben M –
Stayed in a standard villa for 5 nights. It was pretty cosy with 5 adults but really we were only in the room to sleep so it was perfectly fine. I think the villas are pretty well located only a couple of minutes to the ski slopes and a few great little places to eat.
We had our own van which was really convenient. I know they offer a shuttle to the mountain and a pickup but not sure of the finer details as we didn’t use it.
The staff were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the breakfast. I used the onsen every day and it was perfect for those sore muscles at the end of a days riding.
Our group all had a great stay here and would definitely stay again.

It doesn’t look like the Japan of your imagination, but then neither does Hokkaido. More like a Swiss lodge and cabins, as imagined in Idaho. Which is great. The cabins are comfortable and efficient. You can park in front. Breakfasts are hearty. The mountain is literally ten minutes away. Happy hour is relaxing. The onsen and sauna are just what you need after a hard day in the powder. And Moko, who manages the joint, is smart and efficient and a pleasure to hang out with, being a cosmopolitan world traveller who also speaks French and understands Italian. She was easy to communicate with, and she helped us find everything we needed, even in Niseko.

Villa Rusutsu was a great experience for the whole family. The cabin was very comfortable. The kids enjoyed the baths every evening. I think our favorite was the wonderful Western-style breakfast with fresh eggs, milk, and fruit! The location is perfect to get to many nearby activities, including the Rusutsu Resort amusement park just down the road. We took day trips to Sangaitaki Park, Lake Toya and the Usuzan Ropeway (with volcano walk), and Noboribetsu. All around a great stay!
