Description

This contemporary chalet incorporates a western finish with a number of subtle cultural features.

For groups looking for the perfect balance between both privacy and luxury within the stunning Rusutsu ski area, this four bedroom chalet offers everything that any snow-obsessed holiday-maker could wish for. Shirokin – which translates in English to ‘White Gold’ – offers unrivalled access to some of the best powder snow in the world, and it’s this draw that pulls skiers and snowboarders from across the globe back to Rusutsu time and time again.

Located 2 hours from Sapporo airport and a 30 – 40 minute journey from Hokkaido’s most well-known ski area, Niseko, Rusutsu remains a fantastic resort choice for those with a quiet sense of adventure. Receiving around 14 metres of snowfall per year, conditions here are without doubt some of the best in the world, and Shirokin offers an equivalent level of quality in terms of Rusutsu accommodation.

Carefully crafted with the aesthetics of its magnificent environment in mind, the contemporary design of Shirokin provides the perfect powder getaway for groups of families and friends alike. Self-contained and located just a short walk from the ski field, the chalet incorporates a western finish with a number of subtle cultural features, including a traditional Japanese bath. Wireless internet runs throughout the property, and guests are welcome to enjoy heated floors and flatscreen, satellite TV within Shirokin’s large living areas. A spacious kitchen encourages memorable nights in after a long day in the snow, and outdoor balconies on both levels of the chalet bridge the gap between the luxury of the chalets interior and the beauty of Hokkaido’s glistening backcountry.

Shirokin Accommodation

The accommodation set-up within Shirkoin is varied, providing a number of configuration options in terms of who sleeps where. Four bedrooms sleep eight guests comfortably, and the lay-out of the beds can be customised during the booking procedure. A large sofa bed in one of Shirokin’s two living areas provides accommodation for two more guests, meaning that the chalet can comfortably sleep ten. There are also three bathrooms (two baths and three showers) as well as three toilets – and the master bedroom is ensuite.

Shirokin Location

The mountain areas of East, West and Isola within Rusutsu resort deliver some very varied skiing – but also separates the village area itself into a few different zones. Shirokin Chalet is situated in the Shinsetsu Estate on the West side: a convinient spot just a few hundred metres from the main base chairlift as well as many other attractions (including an amusement park which is closed in the winter). Rusutsu itself is extremely quirky, and especially for Western guests delivers a memorable – if not a straight-up Japanese kitsch – experience. With a notable lack of busy nightlife in comparison to somewhere like Niseko, Rusutsu’s charm is to be found not only within its heavenly powder snow, but also within the cultural character it exhibits at every corner of the resort.
