If an alpine home away from home is what you’re looking for, then there’s no better way to experience Rusutsu’s world-famous powder snow than by staying in a beautiful, self-contained log cabin or cottage just moments away from the backcountry action. Located on the Western side of Rusutsu ski resort, this small complex of individual properties provide an ideal accommodation option for families or groups of friends looking to spend some quality time together both on the mountain and snuggled up indoors.

Rusutsu itself is a quirky resort which projects a very Japanese identity across all of its different areas. Three mountain zones of East, West and Isola provide a beautiful landscape – as well as word class skiing opportunities – however, there are some other features which make Rusutsu’s scenery especially memorable for visitors. In particular, a full size amusement theme park swoops across the skyline of the main ski base area – and although the rollercoasters are closed in the winter, seeing metres of powder piled above the park’s loops and spirals makes for some fantastic photo opportunities in addition to the beautiful mountain ranges of the resort.

With ski-in / ski-out access, these log houses are a wonderfully convenient option for those wishing to enjoy all of the benefits of Rusutsus dominant hotel culture without actually having to stay in one. Just a short walk from both the North and South wings of the Rusutsu Hotel, all of the extensive conveniences of the hotel are available – from restaurants and bars through to saunas, the fitness centre, indoor wave pool, public bath and games rooms. The cabins themselves are varied to cater to the specific needs of any visiting group, and also differ in size. Log Cottages – which are smaller and a little more basic – do not have any kitchen facilities (guests are invited to dine in the hotel). However, if cooking and eating together in the evening sounds like an ideal end to a day in the snow, then the slightly larger Log Houses include a small kitchen area.

Rusutsu Log House Accommodation

There are a number of varied size Log Cottages and Houses to choose from depending on the size of the visiting group. Comprised of single bed sleeping arrangements across all of the properties, group sizes between 6 and 24 people can be catered for in rooms that sleep between 2 and 8 people. The buildings include bathrooms and toilets, main lounge areas, TV and phones along with towels. Log Houses also feature a fireplace to create that cosy evening atmosphere, however, it’s important to note that wifi is not provided in any of the buildings.

Rusutsu Log House Location

Of the different areas within Rusutsu resort, the West side certainly has the most amount going on in terms of activities and eateries. Conveniently, the Log Houses and Cottages are situated in this side of the village, and are close not only to the Western ski access, but also to the connecting gondola providing easy ski access to the East. Unlike nearby Niseko, Rusutsu does not have a nightlife culture, or even much of a town atmosphere. However, the nearby location to the Rusutsu Hotel offers an abundance of facilities which will doubtlessly make any trip to the area one to remember.
