Description

Hokkaido’s exceptional powder snow is world-famous – and if your priority is getting amongst it as much as possible during a visit to Rusutsu, then a Japanese Pension could be the ideal accommodation option for your trip.

Affordable, comfortable and often very well located, a Pension is the name given to a hostel-style hotel offering the best basic commodities needed for any adventurous traveller. With a focus on convenience rather than style or design, Pension properties are a fantastic option for smaller groups of snow-obsessed holiday makers looking for value for money as well as somewhere to relax after an exhilarating day within any one of Rusutsu’s ski areas.

Rooms all have a private bathroom including a toilet, shower, slippers and complimentary toiletries, and conveniently, free wireless internet runs the length of the Pension building. Rusutsu is in many ways a classic Japanese ski resort, and with this in mind, the wifi availability within this accommodation option is certainly a huge bonus. A flatsceen TV, refrigerator and a tea/coffee maker also comes as standard within each room, and Pension Lilla Huset also offers a free laundry service and a computer within the lobby’s main shared living area. Another huge extra when staying here is the free scheduled shuttle bus service to Rusutsu Resort Hotel South and North bus stops – giving access to a whole host of bars, restaurants and post / pre-ski activities within Rusutsu. What with all of these facilities, it’s clear that you certainly attain a good level of value for money at this accommodation option.

Pension Lilla Huset Accommodation

Pension Lilla Huset’s bright red and white exterior may not immediately come across as conventionally Japanese in design, however, all rooms within the building offer a tatami sleeping area (a woven bamboo mat paired with a futon mattress, which is a traditional sleeping arrangement format in Japan). This comfortable option also serves a dose of local culture, adding something a little more memorable to any stay at Pension Lilla Huset. As previously mentioned, all bedrooms are ensuite and can sleep between one and five guests in a variety of different configurations which can be discussed on request.

Pension Lilla Huset Location

Unlike nearby Niseko, Rusutsu is not set up in a typical village layout along one or two key streets and the ski lift access itself. Instead, the resort is dominated by the presence of the Rusutsu Hotel, which houses almost all of the shops and eateries that the area has to offer. As a result, the free shuttle access to both sides of the hotel complex is a huge benefit of any stay at Pension Lilla Huset – however, the location of the property itself is brilliant in terms of mountain access and generally getting around Rusutsu. Based just opposite the West side of Rusutsu and its key ski-lift access points, the Pension is a short walk from the slopes yet retains a quiet and calm sense of retreat after long days is Hokkaido’s glorious backcountry.
