Description
Jam Lodge is an awesome little traditional Japanese mountain lodge in a surprisingly unique location.
Jam Lodge Niseko is just 500m walk from the very centre of Hirafu Village, however it’s slightly removed from the main accommodation and entertainment areas – meaning even more peace and quiet and epic natural views. It just so happens that the Ace Family Lift is also just a short walk away – this is where families can spend the day or from where intermediate and advanced skiers can lift-hop up the mountain.
Sleeps: 2 – 3 guests (3 max)
Size: 33 – 40m²
Built: 1980s

The lodge itself was built in the 1980s and has been well maintained as a pension/bed and breakfast style accommodation house. If you want tradition and Japanese ski mountain character, this is the type of place where you will find it. It’s warm and welcoming and very well kept, and with the onsite manager on hand every day you will be able to enjoy a comfortable and hassle free holiday. The manager will even be able to hook you up with any activities you want to try and can access preferential rates. Onsen hot spring baths, ski tours, ski lessons, snow moiling, cat skiing and more.
There is a large communal dining and lounge area with fireplace where you can relax and read a book or a magazine (we recommend Niseko’s own Powderlife magazine ;), talk to your travel partners or make new friends; or just gaze out the window at the falling snow and while away your time off the mountain. There is free wifi internet if you have a device, and there’s also a bar so you can enjoy a quiet apres drink or three in the comfort of the lodge.
The price includes a daily Western-style breakfast, pick up and drop off on arrival, and daily shuttle to the lifts – if you want to get higher up the mountain rather than start at the family lift. There is also parking onsite if you want to rent a car to get out and about – please inquire to confirm space is available as the snow quickly makes parking availability limited once it sets in.

Location
Setting / Atmosphere
Jam Lodge Niseko is located just 100m from the centre of Hirafu, although surrounded by snowy forest, actually have to walk out and around about 500m to get into the village. It’s a quiet hamlet just a short stroll from the village, with views of pristine snow-covered forests in every direction.
Lifts / Transport
If you want to get straight up to the higher lifts you have a few options: catch the family lift up the Ace Quad and go from there; warm the legs up and walk up the hill (about 1km); catch the free lodge shuttle (running every 30 minutes in the morning); or there is a bus stop just three or four minutes walk away.
Restaurants / Bars
While you’re removed from the hustle and bustle of the village here, you’re within 5 to 10 minutes walk of many of Hirafu’s best restaurants – think A-Bu-Cha, Bang Bang, Asahikawa Ramen – and bars – Wild Bill’s, Tamashii, Barunba and many more.to help guide you to all the best spots.

Cheap and cheerful but I agree nothing fancy. Perfect if you want a base and a place to meet other likeminded travellers after the same thing – POWDER!
Kerrod M –
The accommodation was nothing fancy but had everything you needed. The staff were really helpful and friendly and breakfast in the morning was always great. Pretty easy 10 minute walk into town or the lifts.
