Description

Freedom Inn is one of the only accommodation houses in Hanazono, and it’s the only hotel – all the other places are chalets. So if you want to stay at the H-zone without dropping an entire year’s wage, Freedom Inn is the place for you. It’s just a 200m walk from the front door to the lifts. One of the best things about staying at Hanazono is that if the upper lifts are closed, skiers and boarders from the other resorts can’t make it across. So your left with a ski resort to yourself and just a few others who drive or catch the bus out there.

Freedom Inn offers European style lodgings with the hospitality Japan is famous for. They pride themselves on their service and and do evening shuttle bus runs to restaurants and onsen hot spring baths in Kutchan and Hirafu. For those who want to stay in, there is an inhouse restaurant that does a sukiyaki or shabu-shabu (hot pot) dinner upon request (and also provides breakfast in the mornings.

While they love the spending a day on the mountain, they also take relaxation seriously. A communal lounge with wood-burning fireplace is the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day. There are chess boards, a small selection of books and free internet for those who want to use their laptops down here.

In terms of ski storage, there is a ski room in the basement just below the entrance to the hotel where you can store all your skis, boards and other gear for easy access. And you can keep your boots warm and dry inside the hotel on the boot rack.

Freedom Inn has 16 different rooms in a range of configurations to suit individuals, small families and other groups. The upstairs Western rooms have their own ensuites, while rooms on the lower level can sleep more people and are perfect for families or groups. These are also just near the steaming hot Japanese-style ofuro communal bath.

Freedom Inn is located at the base of the Hanazono ski resort, just a short stroll from the ski lifts. There really isn’t a lot to do in Hanazono – there are If you want the bright lights and entertainment, head for Hirafu. If you want a quiet place to rest your head and enjoy a relaxing holiday, with lashings of powder in between this is the place to be.
