Such was the success of this particular chalet design that it was replicated many times over in Niseko between 2005 and 2010 when international skiers first started building their dream homes here. While it doesn’t compete with the modern over-the-top luxury chalets being built now, it ticks plenty of boxes for modern style, comfort, space – and affordability.
There are a dozen or more of these exact chalets dotted around Middle and Lower Hirafu and this one is tucked away in a particularly nice location – half way down a quiet street without through traffic. It’s perfect for kids to play outside in the street (with supervision!) or on one of the vacant lots nearby where they can build snowmen and snow slides to their heart’s content. For adults it’s located within 100m from a dozen or more fantastic little hole-in-the-wall bars and restaurants scattered across the lower village.
The chalet itself is built over two levels. As you enter, you’re welcomed by an open-plan living area with all the essentials: a full Western kitchen, six-seater dining area and a lounge section with a comfy sofa and Apple TV. The bedrooms are located on the upper floor with windows catching views of Mt Yotei. For added convenience, Snow Fox also comes with laundry facilities plus ski storage/drying room.

SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Snow Fox is located in the a quiet street off the main thoroughfares in Lower Hirafu, making it a peaceful location with beautiful views of Mt Yotei and the snowbound village. This locations ticks many boxes – short shuttle to the centre of the village and everything you’ll need while enjoying peace and quiet.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
It’s just a short 100m stroll to the free shuttle bus, which will have you up at the lifts within just a few minutes. This shuttle can also take you anywhere in the rest of Hirafu between 8am and last lifts (9pm if night skiing is on), meaning despite the “Lower Village” tag, you’re well within reach of all the action.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
While all the ritzy, high-class establishments are in Upper Hirafu, down here you have plenty of the coolest and quirkiest little bars and traditional restaurants in Niseko. Think Fridge Door and Kemuri bars, izakaya restaurants Rin, Ebisutei, Nagomi and the amazing Yo. It’s a world of discovery awaiting you.
