Description

Mountain Tracks is an older Japanese style ski chalet that has been nicely refurbished bringing it up to a modern western standard. It’s located in Izumikyo one which is a quiet part of Hirafu, however a bit of a walk to the ski lifts. It backs onto beautiful pristine forest and you’ll often hear the thump of snow falling from the trees into the powder below. Izumikyo is all lowrise buildings and more upmarket houses, so it’s generally a very peaceful and quiet place to stay without noisy young holiday makers.

The house is solidly constructed and has a large living area on the entry level downstairs. There is a great lounge suite that looks out into the forest as well as a large dining table for meals or just sitting around withe friends.

The kitchen is basic and Japanese in style, so its a little lower than what you’ll be used to back home. Our advice is if you plan on cooking a few big meals, choose somewhere else. But there are so many great restaurants nearby there’s no need to do much cooking.

The lodge has a telephone for making local calls (which are free), wireless internet, a flat screen TV, laundry facilities and very handy ski room.

Mountain Tracks Accommodation

Mountain Tracks has 4 double bedrooms which can all be configured as either doubles or twin singles. There is a fifth bedroom which can act as a second living space, and has a nice lounge suit. The rooms have reading lamps of bedside tables and big cupboards for storing clothes and baggage. There are two bathrooms although no ensuites, and there are four toilets.

Mountain Tracks Location

Mountain Tracks is located in Izumikyo 1 which is a luxury enclave of chalets and large older houses. It’s about 20 minutes walk to the lifts but you’re probably not going to want to do that in boots when you can catch the free shuttle bus that stops just down the end of the street about 200m walk away. The free village shuttle bus stops here and it can take you to any lift in the village, or to any restaurant.

The bus stops just at the end of the street outside NAC – the Niseko Adventure Centre – which can book ski tours and cat skiing tours. There is also a rock climbing wall inside, a great cafe/restaurant overlooks this, as well as has great views of Mt Yotei. There are also several restaurants and a great bar, Amaru in this precinct.
