Description

Midori is a compact little modern ski cabin tucked away down a quiet street in the lower village. Midori means green, and if you never realised before, that’s why the melon-flavoured liqueur of the same name is so called! Fortunately Midori House blends in with its environment a little nicer than if it were the flouro green of the drink :)

Step inside Midori and into a small “genkan” lobby area before choosing to walk up stairs into the living, dining and kitchen area as well as the bathroom, or downstairs to the bedrooms, laundry and drying room and ski room. This isn’t a luxury chalet and the interior walls are a fairly plain plywood finish. However that gives it a nice alpine feel and the building has been nicely furnished, making Midori an excellent, warm, comfortable base for a Niseko holiday.

The lounge room has high vaulted ceilings and large windows looking out over the surrounding village. The lounge suite is soft and comfortable, and sits in front of the well setup audio-visual system to ensure you can really enjoy your time off the mountain with some quality entertainment.

The kitchen is a fairly standard Japanese kitchen with low benches and is quite narrow, so you’re probably not going to want to spend a great deal of time in here cooking. It’s good enough for preparing breakfasts and light meals, but for dinner you’re really better off heading out to eat – even if you’re on a budget you can find plenty of great quality restaurants at prices you can afford.

Midori has a landline phone for making free local calls, individual heaters for each room, an Apple TV, wifi internet, stereo with iPod dock, and laundry facilities.

Midori Accommodation

The 2-bedroom cottage sleeps four people in western style beds, although there are two extra futons so it can sleep six people in total. The bedrooms are nice and spacious making it a relaxing place to recover for the next day on the mountain.

Midori Location

Midori is located in the bottom corner of the Hirafu Lower Village, in amongst a few other houses and cabins sparsely spread out in this area. It’s a long 15-20 minute walk up to the lifts, but the free shuttle bus stop is just 50m or so away from the lodge, and it can whisk you up to the lifts in about five minutes or so.

There are also several great restaurants in this part of the village and the public onsen (hot spring baths) just a five minute walk away.
