Kumajiro is a modern alpine chalet located in the Izumikyo 1 precinct just outside the main part of Hirafu. The 3-level stand-alone exemplifies contemporary Japanese mountain style and combines comfort with convenience and liberal use of space. Best of all it can snugly sleep 10 people.
The premium quality house is spacious, perfect for those wanting their Niseko holiday to be luxurious and comfortable. The modern, open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area features a 10-person dining table and the lounge area has high vaulted ceilings and a stone fireplace – the perfect spot to curl up and enjoy the picturesque views of Mt Yotei.
If you feel like taking a break from the house there’s plenty to do to keep yourself entertained. The large flat-screen TV has satellite connection offering English-language channels such as movies, news, sports and documentaries, and there’s also a DVD player. The house has wireless internet connection throughout to keep you in touch with the outside world.
There is a large ski and snowboard storage and drying room, including a tuning bench, which can be accessed directly from the entrance hall so you don’t have to take your wet gear into the house. The laundry is separate and has a washing machine and clothes dryer.
Kumajiro has five bedrooms, including two double bedrooms located on the top floor. The remaining three bedrooms can be configured with either one double or two twin beds. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, and there are two additional bathrooms in the house.
The kitchen, dining and living areas are all on the middle level. The kitchen is equipped with quality appliances including an oven, dishwasher and microwave, and the dining table will seat up to 10 people.
Kumajiro is located in the leafy Izumikyo 1 area of Hirafu, which is an exclusive residential enclave. Sitting just on the outskirts of the main Hirafu area, it offers privacy as well as peace and quiet, yet is still close enough to the action that you won’t feel isolated.
It’ll take you about 10-15 minutes to walk to the lifts, but why would you when the shuttle bus stops just up the road and can whisk you up to the slopes in no time at all!
There are a few restaurants in the Izumikyo area with nearby options including JoJo’s café, a fun spot for families with young kids, and Amaru which serves up delicious après cocktails and super tasty Tex Mex – the generous portions will satisfy even the hungriest of powder hunters after a long day on the slopes!
