Karamatsu is the local name for the Japanese larch tree which is native to the northern regions of the middle island, Honshu, and seen in extensive plantations on the island of Hokkaido, home to Niseko. It’s the only deciduous conifer native to Japan and in autumn, the mountains of Hokkaido turn to gold as the karamatsu pins yellow and fall.

While adopting an outward sturdy Japanese besso – or holiday villa – appearance, Karamatsu embodies unstinting in comfort and sophistication with top quality fittings and furnishings. Judicious use of lamps combines with voguish, concealed ceiling and down-lights to create a warm and inviting ambience. Entertainment is on tap with a wide-screen TV and Netflix, along with high-speed internet connection.

The sizeable living areas are located on the lower floor with the gourmet kitchen, featuring an island counter and eating bench, separating the cosy dining and living areas. The living room flows onto a wide terrace. A dedicated laundry can be accessed from the kitchen. Karamatsu has abundant expansive windows throughout its 146 square metres of floor space, welcoming in lots of natural light and allowing guests to enjoy the pleasure of the outdoor snowscape.
