Description
Heiwa Lodge is a super cool modern ski cabin set amongst a peaceful forest setting.
Heiwa Lodge is a super cool new modern ski cabin located in the snowbound forest of St Moritz (Kabayama) on the outskirts of Hirafu. The funky Hong Kong-designed cabin mixes the best of modern style and comfort with the quintessential rustic Japanese mountain holiday experience. It’s located about 1.8km from the village in amongst rolling forested countryside in amongst other similar mountain retreats. There’s not much noise out here – just the peace and quiet and the occasional thump of snow falling from branches onto the forest floor below.

The 2-bedroom cabin has two bathrooms and two toilets, as well as a fully equipped western-style kitchen. Beds can be configured either to two Singles or one King Double for each bedroom. The living area is nice and spacious with comfortable modern furniture. In case you do get sick of gazing out into your winter wonderland surrounds and need to reconnect with the outside world, there is satellite TV channels with movies and news.
Unless you’re a keen cross-country skier or backcountry hiker, you’re going to want a car here. There is car space cleared for you and we can help you organise a rental vehicle. Driving on the snow is not hard – all vehicles are 4wd and have grippy snow tyres (no chains required) so all you need to do is jump in and hit the road. You can be from front door to ski resort and first lifts in 5 minutes.
For food and drinks it’s not a far walk into town – Hirafu Village is 20 minutes’ walk away, perfectly manageable after a few drinks in one of the many bars (especially if you’re out after taxis stop running at 2am).

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Heiwa Lodge is located in St Moritz (Kabayama), about 1.8kms from the centre of Hirafu. Out here there isn’t much around so it might not be the ideal choice for those who want to duck in and out to shops and restaurants throughout the day. But you will have a car, and there are also taxis available to take you home so you can still enjoy the culinary and entertainment options of modern day Hirafu and the rest of Niseko if you choose.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
It’s less than five minutes drive to the lifts of Hirafu in one direction, and about 5-10 minutes to the family and intermediate friendly Niseko Village in the other. Past that is Annupuri, which is a great all round resort for beginners and advanced powder hounds alike. And if you’re serious about getting deep snow, punch Rusutsu into your navi and an hour later you could be up to your arm pits in the finest uncrowded snow you’ve ever seen in your life.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
Take the local bus (stopping at Kabayama) or take a brisk 15 minute walk to get to the centre of Hirafu Village. Main street eateries such as Enishi, Niseko Pizza and Vale Bar & Grill are closest, as is the Odin complex. Or find a few of the hidden gems of Kabayama on your doorstep! The Gentem Café, Green Saso green tea cafe, Kashinoya Backpackers and Elements in Always Niseko are on your doorstep.

The best chalet! Close enough to the village and cozy interior. Very clean and roomy enough for all your ski/board gear. Would highly recommend staying here. I know I will again.
Sara –
Oh this place is so cute! One of the cheapest chalets in Niseko, Heiwa Lodge is just outside the main Hirafu village.
