Description

Ezo Fuji is both this cute and cosy little log cabin, and the nickname given to Mt Yotei – Niseko’s incredibly beautiful symmetrical volcano. Ezo is the Japanese word for Hokkaido, and because Mt Yotei is almost identical to Mt Fuji, they call it Hokkaido’s Fuji. It’s an apt name for the building which is located right next to a potato field which is just a snow-covered plain in winter with majestic Mt Yotei in the background.

Back to the accommodation and this compact cabin has two bedrooms upstairs, and downstairs a small kitchen and an open plan living and dining area. It’s a loft style configuration so the living room has an open high ceiling and the bedrooms are on a mezzanine level, adding the the alpine feel of the house. The interior is all pine wood which also adds to this rustic charm.

While the house is open plan, the living and dining areas are separated making it feel very spacious. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge room, as well as nice couches. There is a large flat screen TV and a small table. Off this room there is a small verandah which makes a nice viewing platform for looking up at Mt Yotei. The kitchen is compact and doesn’t have much bench space for cooking, although there is a dining table for four people on which you can prepare food. However you are unlikely to want to cook much because the dining scene in Niseko is so incredible and affordable. It has a Japanese style unit bathroom – ie there’s a deep bath alongside a space to wash yourself before taking the plunge.

Ezo Fuji Accommodation

Ezo Fuji has sleeps five people in two bedrooms upstairs, one of which is a full bedroom, the other which is the open loft room. It has Japanese tatami (woven straw mat) floors on which three futon mattresses can be laid out. The other bedroom has one western style double bed.

Ezo Fuji Location

Ezo Fuji is located on the far side of Izumikyo 2 area of Hirafu. It’s fair to say you probably won’t want to walk up to the lifts from here as it would take at least half an hour or more, especially in ski boots. However the free village shuttle bus stops very nearby the house so you can jump on this to get to any of the lifts or restaurants and shops in the village. It’s only a five to 10 minute trip up into the heart of all the action. There are several restaurants and eateries within walking distance, but jump on the bus and open up a whole new culinary world!
