Description

Aspenwood looks small from the outside but packs a lot in between its four walls. Located in a convenient spot just five minutes shuttle ride from the lifts, the tiny cottage was bought by a new owner in 2012 and given a beautiful and clever renovation which maximises the spaces inside beautifully. It’s not the most feature packed place, but it’s got everything you need for a great Niseko holiday.

For example there isn’t a dining area, which in any other part of the world might be a problem. But not in Niseko – there are so many great restaurants you will want to try them all so you won’t want to eat at home. The kitchen is also very basic and not setup to be cooking up feasts, but is good enough to make breakfast and light meals. Also, rather than a bath there is a shower. It’s been very nicely remodelled and will come in handy, but just 100m walk from the house is Yukoro Onsen hot spring baths. Add a trip to the baths to the end of every day and you might not even need to use the shower in your accommodation at all! It costs about Y1000, or less than $10, for a visit. Here you can bathe and soak in a beautiful outdoor hot spring bath surrounded by boulders and mountains of snow.

Downstairs is an open plan space featuring the kitchen and living area, which is cleverly designed to fit a lounge against the windows, a small table and a TV on the wall. A fireplace set into the wall is a beautiful touch and adds warmth and atmosphere to the house. The TV also comes with a Playstation 3 if you’ve got young kids or even big kids! The PS3 plays DVDs as well. The TV has satellite channels with news, sport, docos and movie channels. The house even packs in a small laundry with washing machine and dryer, as well as a small ski storage area.

Aspenwood Accommodation

Aspenwood sleeps four adults in its two bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom has a double bed, the other a double that can be split into two singles beds. Again, up here the space has been cleverly maximised to allow two relatively spacious rooms, albeit with sloping ceilings.

Aspenwood Location

Aspenwood is located in the lower village, right across the road from a shuttle bus stop. It’s about a 20-minute walk up the hill to the lifts, but the best option is the shuttle which is free and runs from 8am to 9pm every day.

There are several great restaurants and a couple of bars within five minutes walk from the house too.
