Description
Yume House is a quirky little Japanese ski cabin located in a great spot in the middle village. It’s a combination of Western and traditional Japanese style with one tatami (woven straw mat) floor. Yume means dream in Japanese, and while it’s not a super luxury house, it’s certainly somebody’s dream home and for a short time while you’re in Niseko it can be yours too. Being quite small and not the most “wow” property on the mountain, it offers good value in a terrific location.
Sleeps: 4 guests (5 max)

The building itself is a bit older, but it has been nicely refurbished. In a previous life, this would have probably been a weekend holiday house for a family from Sapporo or elsewhere in Japan. You can see the typical, simple Japanese architecture style in the building; it’s most obvious in the tatami mat floor but it’s also present in the kit style bathroom. It’s a really simple little bathroom with deep Japanese style bath and a space for showering beside the bath – the Japanese way.
The kitchen and dining area is great. The kitchen is all new and features a big oven as well as a dishwasher meaning you can cook decent meals here if you so wish – although with so many great restaurants around, you might not end up cooking all that much. It’s laid out along one wall, giving it an open plan layout into the dining area.
Yume House can accommodate up to five guests in its two bedrooms. One of the rooms has a Western style double bed, while the other has tatami mat flooring on which up to three futon beds can be laid out (two are included in the rates and a third ca be adde at an extra charge). This style of bedding is quite hard and can be a bit of a shock at first, but it’s great for your spine and posture. It’s also a great little cultural experience and kids love it. The futons are stored in big cupboards during the day, leaving the room free for other activities, and they’re brought out at night and laid down on the authentic tatami floor.

Yume House
Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Yume House’s location can best be described as awesome. In fact, we’d almost go as far as to say it’s perfect. You’re just below the main street of Hirafu – literally a two or three minute walk to the convenience stores and dozens of restaurants and bars.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
Let’s not forget the lifts! It’s just a five minute walk to the Ace Family lift, from where you can upload higher up the mountain if you’re an intermediate or advanced skier. And if you want to get straight to the higher lifts, there’s a shuttle bus stop just two minutes from the front door. Boom!
RESTAURANTS / BARS
There’s Bigfoot Lodge and Barumba Bar around the corner, Crab Shack Canon and Ezo Seafoods are amazing restaurants nearby that are always in high demand. The grocery store inside Shiki always has a fine selection of imported foods, and if the line inside Seicomart convenience store is too long the Lawson is just nearby across the bridge.
