The apartments at Silver Birch aren’t super fancy like the ones all around them – but that’s fine by you, right? You’re here to ski and soak up the buzz of Hirafu and don’t need designer furniture and marble bench tops. The old leather couches are probably more comfortable for your exhausted body than an expensive overly-designed lounge suite anyway!
Thanks to the lack of luxe, these apartments also don’t come with the Niseko price tag – sleeping five people for US $500 or less in peak season, you can be in the heart of the hottest new powder ski resort on the planet for $100 a night per person. Even a shared dorm in a backpackers hostel won’t be much cheaper than this, and probably not as well located.
Meanwhile the apartments offer fully self-contained convenience and privacy. Kitchens have all you need to cook (and save cash on dining out if you need to) but the Nespresso machine won’t be out of place first thing in the morning. The layout consists of an open-plan living/kitchen/dining area upstairs, while downstairs are two bedrooms side by side with bathroom, toilet and laundry. Perfect!

Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
Silver Birch Apartments are located at the bottom of Upper Hirafu, which is perfect for convenience because everything you need is down here – you’re just a few minutes walk from ski shops and conveniences stores for daily necessities, and you’re in the heart of the entertainment district. You’re just off the main street in a backstreet thoroughfare so there’s lots of pedestrian traffic at all hours.
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
It’s an easy five-minute walk to the family lift, which is a high-speed detachable quad that feeds up to the higher mountain, or you can walk 10-minutes uphill direct to the main lift, the Centre Four (Ace Quad). About 50m from bus stops from where you can get to any lift in Hirafu, the other local resorts, or into the Kutchan – the local town – for groceries, exploration or some true local dinner and drinking.
RESTAURANTS / BARS
You are right across the street from one of Niseko’s most popular and charming après bars, Wild Bills, a huge old log cabin which also doubles as a very nice izakaya restaurant in the evening. Once the plates clear however, it’s game on – Bill’s is also one of the best late night party venues. Otherwise there are 50 restaurants and bars for all budget levels to choose from within five-minutes’ walk of the front door.

Nice place in the middle of it all. It was a rustic log cabin good for family of 5.
