Kozue is the Japanese word for treetops, and the apartment complex was named after the birch forest alongside the building, through which guests can gaze out at the snowbound scenery. The natural environment surrounding the building is the guiding influence on its design. The architect focused on ensuring there was a strong sense of connection from the surrounding landscape to the apartments within. Floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows and natural materials such as oak flooring and stone tiling complete the warm and elegant setting.
Kozue features apartments ranging from a one-bedroom studio to the more thoroughly equipped 1,2 and 3 bedroom apartments. The most impressive unit in the building is obviously the grand three-bedroom penthouse which looks out towards the mighty Mt Yotei.
All apartments (save for the studio) include ovens, cooktops and standard cooking facilities. Large internet TVs with DVD players and fast wireless internet ensure guests can stay entertained and connected with the outside world. Underfloor heating ensures all rooms and areas of the apartments are uniformly warm. The apartments have laundry facilities including dryers, and the building has a drying room and secure storage for skis and boots. Most apartments have balconies although you might settle for admiring the views from the warm comfort of your apartment.

Kozue
Location
Setting / Atmosphere
Kozue is located right near the top of Middle Hirafu Village – just 100m from several restaurants, bars and cafes, a deli supermarket and a convenience store. Yet, the building stands on the edge of the village, providing tranquil views matching its calm design beautifully. Talk about a win-win.
Lifts / Transport
Just a couple of hundred metres further along flat ground is the Ace family lift, from where you can lift-hop your way up the mountain if you’re an intermediate or advanced skier. The other option is to jump on the free shuttle that runs every 10 to 15 minutes from morning till night and get whisked up to any of the main lifts in the village or the gondola. The stop is just 50m or so along the main road. When finished skiing at the end of the day, the easiest route home is to ski down to the bottom of the family lift and walk, or if you haven’t got any energy left you can catch your desired form of transport home to Kozue from here.
Restaurants / Bars
With Hirafu’s most beloved (or notorious) watering holes less than five minutes away, Kozue is a perfect gem for those looking to really enjoy the night life in the village. Find Niseko’s top restaurants – Michelin-strarred Kamimura, Ezo Seafoods, the Barn to name a few – on Momiji Street just two blocks away.

We stayed here not knowing what to expect but I couldn’t have been more happier with how everything went. Our apartment was very cozy with a fireplace and comfortable living area. The staff was amazing! Cliff the concierge made sure we had a ride everywhere we went. They even carried our equipment to the lifts! Sam helped us out as well driving all the way Hanazono even for just one run then returning our equipment for us afterwards. Anna was also very helpful and sweet. We have come to niseko once a year for the past three years and this was by far my favorite place so far. Will definitely be back.

This was our first visit to Niseko and Kozue made it an experience to remember. Prior to our arrival to departing niseko, everything was organised and we were well taken care off.
Cliff was so helpful in every aspect from taking us (and our skis) right to the lift and picking us from any location throughout the day. When it was out of hours, we could call upon the Vale to handle our transportation. Anna and Sam also stood out as they were so helpful and friendly. They help organise ski lessons, restaurant bookings, airport transfers and lift passes.
One small minor negative was that there was no safe in the room but we were allowed to keep valuables with the reception.
All in all, it was a fantastic stay (made by the team) and we would definitely be back!
