The Maples Niseko
Location
SETTING / ATMOSPHERE
The Maples Niseko is located in the beating heart of Niseko: Upper Hirafu village, halfway up the main street, Hirafu-Zaka. All around on the village side are shops, a supermarket, ski hire, restaurants and bars, so any convenience will almost literally be on your doorstep. Meanwhile the hustle and bustle of the main street transforms to the busy Ace Family Run with a peaceful forest backdrop on the other side. Literally the best of all worlds!
LIFTS / TRANSPORT
The Maples Niseko is ski-in and ski-out, with the building connecting directly to Hirafu’s Family Run. You can either ski down to the base of the Family Run and take the high-speed Ace Family Quad to get further up the mountain, or if you’d like to warm up your legs you can walk out onto the main street and five minutes uphill to main quad lift. The Maples is also very close to shuttle stops and the Welcome Centre making it easy to get further afield. Boom!
RESTAURANTS / BARS
The Maples Niseko is primely located right near two of Niseko’s most famous izakayas, A-Bu-Cha and Bang Bang, although you may need to book well ahead or be prepared to line up early to get a seat. There are dozens more restaurants and bars within less than five minutes walk, and it’s even not too far to stroll down to the main intersection and into Middle Hirafu where you can experience a whole lot more. Best of all, don’t worry about needing a taxi if you stay out late!

Special shoutout to Tagar at the check-in counter for his exceptional service, to Bruno for efficient shuttle service to the welcome centre and the rest of the staff too who were really chill and friendly. Wonderful Ski Holiday
The Maples at Niseko is a superbly run hotel. It’s conveniently located and easy to walk to the gondola/ski lessons/supermarket/cafe and restaurants. In addition they offer a free service to drop and pick up so we never had to walk with our ski gear or of the weather was very cold! Staff is very friendly and go the extra mile to help. The place is run very efficiently and adds it a fun and relaxing holiday. It’s a ski in/ski out facility too. The concierge desk is very helpful with information and bookings and helped with all our requests. Rooms are tidy and well maintained. Will definitely return!

The kitchen had all the facilities to cook meals too. We used the Ski in Ski out facilities of the hotel every day and it was so convenient for us beginner skiers. The staff were very friendly and professional and assisted us with all our needs and requests, eg booking restaurant reservations and ski lessons. Fantastic location right by the Ace Family Lift and with lockers in the basement for gear storage. Room was clean, bright & spacious with kitchenette and washer/dryer. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
I got injured skiing and had to see a doctor and physio. The Maples Concierge was brilliant in securing a clinic booking and organising transport for me to get checked out. Would also recommend Focus Physio in the hotel as they were excellent, professional and very caring. Thank you Sophie & Christine!
Only reason for the 4-stars on service was because housekeeping forgot to close the room door after cleaning one day and left it wide open for several hours.

One of the highlights of our trip was the seamless transportation arrangements they made for us, including pick-up and drop-off services. Whether we needed to get to the slopes, explore the area, or return to the airport, the concierge team was there every step of the way to assist us.
Their support didn’t end with transportation logistics; they were also readily available to answer any questions we had and provide valuable recommendations for activities and dining options in the area. Their local knowledge and friendly demeanor made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay.

A phenomenal ski-in ski-out hotel. Will 100% stay again. One downside is no hot tub, however there is a public onsen you can pay for next door which was amazing. Also, make sure to book transportation as needed getting home. We got snowed in (all trains cancelled) and missed our flights out of Sapporo due to not having private cars or bus tickets.
Hotel rooms have laundry which was awesome, and again the location can’t be beat for skiing. Loved it.

Excellent holiday at the Maples
I spent a lot of time researching places and listening to advice from friends about where to stay in Niseko, and am so glad we chose the Maples. The location is terrific, right on the family run, and an easy walk to the main village intersection/shops but not right on the main town road. Booking with Nisade made everything very easy – airport transfers, ski hire (you can return them in the lobby which was so much better than trekking back to the store).
Chose a 3 bedroom apartment with a street view, which cost less than a ski run view, and was glad we had that side of the building as watching the street life was interesting. It had a beautiful view of Mt Yotei, and the cushioned platform sitting area next to the windows was a big hit with everyone. The apartment was completely quiet which was a huge plus. There is no onsen, but most hotel onsens seem to be tiny anyway, whereas the hotel right next door has a very large one with multiple pools including one that is outside (albeit under a balcony) for Y2000 that we used most nights. Super happy with our stay.

Highly recommended stay and location.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Maples in Niseko, despite a general rule to always stay or try somewhere different. It was definitely more popular this time around, and it’s obvious why – optimum location (ski in ski out), clean amenities, modern fittings, and above all else very friendly and helpful staff. Particular note to concierge, Katie Clubb, who went above and beyond to accommodate us and make our trip as good as it was- thank you. There are other elements – good relations to the Rhythm, Snowboard / ski lessons can be taken just outside on the Family Run; the restaurants downstairs and upstairs (they even remembered our names!). Pricing is as expected for the region and times visited, but very reasonable. Strongly recommended

The employees are stellar, so friendly and kind. Especially Caio and Ioan, who went above and beyond to help us out. They helped us get home safe after a night out & discovering taxis had stopped running at midnight. We would’ve been sleeping in the Welcome Center otherwise as everywhere was completely closed in Grand Hirafu and we were staying in Kutchan. We would’ve completely SOL had they not been so kind and given us a ride back. Thank you doesn’t suffice!

One of, if not Niseko’s best hotel
Hotel Room was clean and tidy, beds were comfortable and the room was comfy, we had a fantastic stay. The hotel has easy access to both the street and to the snow (ski, snowboarding). It is within a good proximity of restaurants and a large amount of shops (convenience stores and winter sports shops). Easy to walk towards Niseko’s largest rental shop (Rhythm Japan). Overall a fantastic hotel and one of if not the best in Niseko.

We stayed in the Maples Niseko for 3 nights with my wife in Dec 2023, the location of the Resort is great, the staff was very welcoming and professional, especially we have met Jessy during check-in process. Jessy provided great service making the check-in process very pleasant and smooth. I would recommend Maples for anyone that plans to visit Niseko during the winter. Thank you Jessy Tsai!

WOW. We spent 5 amazing nights over Christmas 2023 at The Maples, and the location, rooms and service were excellent. This hotel has the only true ski in/out facilities, with our ski lockers only 10 meters away from the ski run. It has a lovely Italian restaurant downstairs which has arguably the best pizzas in the area. A special mention to Blake and Sam who went out of their way to make our experience a truly amazing one.

I stayed in the Maples Niseko for 5 nights with my husband and another couple in Dec 2023. The hotel is well situated, we had a very smooth check-in and didn’t encounter any issues during our stay. The italian restaurant inside the hotel was wonderful too, which I would recommend a visit during your stay. I would definitely revisit The Maples again.

Perfect
Very nice place. We had a 2+1 bedroom unit, rooms are beautiful & adequately equipped with all we may need. Toiletries, towels, humidifier, iron, drying racks, nespresso, toaster, kettle, cooking & eating stuff etc. the best part is, they are very very clean. It’s a ski in-out property. Ski lockers in the basement, ski down from the lift and store them in the lockers or put in your skis & ski down to take the lift. Staff are all helpful & friendly. Everyone speaks English, even arranged shuttle for us to go around hirafu. There’s also a physio onsite, managed to solve my daughter’s shin & ankle problem in just 1 session. We will stay here again, good pricing & most importantly, we had a fantastic stay.

A Memorable Powder experience for our Son!
This was the second time staying at the The Maples, loved the location, ski in ski out convenience and size of the room, this time it was myself, my wife and son, we stayed in a Deluxe room which was perfect for a small family, has a kitchen which was great for getting out on the slopes quickly every morning. Location is good walking distance to all the restaurants and supermarket. The hotel doesn’t have an onsen but you can use the onsen in the prince hotel directly adjacent for 2000Yen adult/1000Yen child which we did on multiple occasions.
Just before we arrived rain had washed all the snow away but the hotel was very accommodating in providing transport to Hanazono on the two days our son had lessons. The snow wouldn’t stop pouring from the third day so we decided to extend for another two days, big thanks to the manager Blake for helping us find a room to extend. A massive shout out to Katie from the conciege who if it wasn’t for her help we would not have managed to find transport to the airport, it was holiday season and all the taxi companies were fully booked so we were so grateful for her help. Overall a great holiday and will definately come again, big thanks to the whole team!

There is also an excellent pizzeria downstairs. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will return your skis and equipment to Rhythm for you. Unbelievable! Can’t wait to come back!!!!!

As many others have mentioned, the location is the best on the mountain. True ski in and ski out which leads you right to your ski lockers. It’s the only hotel in the area that is truly designed this way – the other hotels down the hill require you to hike up the bunny hill to jump on the lift whereas at the maples, you just throw your skis on and ski to the family lift. We are not beginner skiers but the set up at the hotel would be great for those just learning or those with young kids.
The hotel it self is nice and all that you need. Clean with a small kitchen which was ideal for making breakfast. Staff was also very kind and helpful with questions. We did not dine at the pizza restaurant at the hotel but it looked busy each night. Agreement with Rhythm is a nice touch – we were able to leave our rental skis at the lobby as we checked up for Rhythm to pick up at a later time.
The location in Hirfau is also ideal. Across the street from a grocery store and walking distance to all the top bars and restaurants in the area. Would recommend to anyone visiting especially those who value the ski in/ ski out without having to take the bus all over town.

Easy access to the ski slopes!
It was so good to be so close to the slopes. The proximity of the boot room to the entry to the family ski run made it easy to get going skiing! The Maples is also very close to some of the best restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful. But perhaps the best thing was our apartment, we had our three adult children with us and used two bedrooms and a tatami in a third sectioned off area. We also had three bathrooms. The kitchen was well facilitated, and the washer dryer was also very useful.
The Maples is particularly good for anyone who is in Niseko for a short period and wants to make the most of their time. We were there for four nights and loved every minute of our time at The Maples and in Niseko.

Fantastic ski-in/out location, comfortable & fully equipped
Stayed at 2nd fl studio, facing mountain. A bit too low so view was slightly blocked by some structure but still good. Room size was good for 2, with 2 opened suitcases lying on the floor. Dining table was small, Japanese standard size. With 2 cups of coffee, very little space for 2 plates.
Kitchenette equipped, washer & dryer w/detergent, iron, clothes rack all in. Shower was so comfortable, good water temp & pressure, has seat to relax as you shower. Basic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bathroom amenities. Each room has own ski lockers at B1, really a ski-in/out location. This is the BEST feature. From outside the locker room, you can access the family hill, skied down to the lift and ski down this hill. Its a night ski area too, so beginners can spend the whole day here. Its a bit narrow comparatively & so it felt crowded at times, but most times it was ok. 2nd and last day were magical at this hill. Powder snow, at night we were about the only 5-6 people at the slope. Night ski closes at 7pm. There is another 1 hotel at this hill, also ski-in/out, but Maples is hands-down, the better location as its door is just at this hill, no need to walk at all, other than just to put on your skis.
There are 2 restaurants on site, we only visited the Italian. Most of the good eating places were so packed and needed to queue. We were thankful for this Italian restaurant which served really good pizzas and beef cheek. Able to walk in without queueing, place is about 80% full most times. After 3 dinners, they recognized us and actually saved us seats.
Concierge was friendly and super helpful. Another great feature was the van to & from Maples to where we needed to go. Book the transport early (at least 1 day) to get to and back from gondola – trust us, you WILL really need it. Tried lugging ski gears from the nearest bus-stop, and walking upslope in ski boots after a day of skiing, it was so tiring.
Very nearby: convenience store, a popular ramen shop, Arabica coffee truck (not open daily), snack food trucks

The staff were all super friendly on arrival and throughout our stay. Great location with a private locker for your gear and you can ski in and ski out directly from that locker room, however the lift it takes you to is right at the bottom so by the time you reach the next lift the line is pretty long as the open at the same time. In saying this it is just a short walk to the next lift up if you don’t mind walking up the hill to get the higher lift before the line.
The on-site laundry was super convenient and it’s just a short walk to all the surrounding restaurants in the area.

Very nice hotel, great ski in and out.. Great stay.. Excellent snow locker area.. The only thing missing is a larger bar or lounge area where everyone can enjoy a get together and a drink.. Pizza Cafe is great.. But not much of a lodge experience.. An onsen on Site would be great..

Clean and Modern Room and Excelent Service
Great location, ski in ski out and personalised shuttle service around Hirafu. Our room has 2 bedrooms and plenty of space. The kitchen well equipped. Modern decoration. Everything was clean and new. We love the apartment. There is also a Rhythm counter at the hotel lobby which is an added convenience.
The maples is also very near ski schools and just next to the Family Run. The dry room and the lockers are new and well maintained. Good room, good service and good location.
I love everything about it.

The staff at the front desk were lovely and very helpful. They offered to help with luggage and I thought were really looking out for the guest and would say the best reception we had in Niseko upon check-in. The lady that checked us in (forgot her name) was very professional when it came to running through the T&C’s and general introduction to the property. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment overlooking the ski run. The views of the ski run are amazing and truely some of the best views from an apartment. I think this side was actually better than Mt Yotei. The colour tones are perfect and give the apartment a very sophisticated vibe. Highly recommend the apartment for those who want a great base while in Niseko. 10 out of 10!

Beautiful modern apartments looking out to the ski hill. The ski lockers have direct ski in/ski out access to the Ace family run and there are restaurants and a small supermarket right across the street. Perfect!
