Moiwa Chalet was originally built in 2008, and refurbished in 2017 to update its interiors. The result is a simple, stylish look with natural wood textures and neutral tones throughout. The cottage is made up of two storeys. Bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry facilities are on the first level, while an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is on the second level.

The chalet’s pointed roof creates vaulted ceilings throughout the upstairs living space, with dark hardwood beams intersecting the space and adding a rustic look. This is reinforced with a gorgeous dining table made out of solid hardwood pieces, with benches and polished wood stumps making up the seating. The chalet has everything: full kitchens with appliances, dishes, and cutlery to cater for the whole group throughout your stay, laundry and dry room for your gear downstairs. The living space lets you enjoy both the flat-screen TV and a gas fireplace inset into the wall, with a natural stone motif around it highlighting the alpine cottage vibe.

There are windows along all four sides of the house, taking advantage of Moiwa’s woody and quaint village surrounds and also letting you take in vistas of the ski slopes from your living room. Downstairs, each bedroom also has ample windows to take in views and natural light. There are hardwood floors and natural wooden furniture in every room, as well as radiator-type heating panels that are centrally controlled, but adjustable in each room as well.

Moiwa Chalet

The Moiwa Chalet is nestled away alongside forest at the base of the Moiwa ski resort. Mt Moiwa neighbors Niseko’s Mt Annupuri, and Moiwa Resort is known as the unofficial fifth resort of the Niseko resorts, although you’ll need a separate lift pass to use the lifts here. The village is small, with a few larger backpacker-style accommodations hosting restaurants.

Moiwa’s lifts are right across the road from Moiwa Chalet, so close that you can ski from the resort and right to your own front porch. If you’d like to get to the Niseko resorts, regular free shuttle buses leave the Moiwa area 3 times a day. Or if there’s a driver in your group, the management provides a car with the property so you can get yourself anywhere you need to go.

Moiwa’s little village has a couple of choices for food, the Moiwa 834 lodge being one of the biggest. If these don’t satisfy you, head down the One Niseko Towers for a bigger range of hotel restaurants and a bar. A little further down the road, Kanro No Mori’s hot springs are a fantastic way to unwind after a hard day’s riding – and only a 10 minute walk away!
