There’s few things Japanese locals love more than a good barbecue (yakiniku) – and they won’t let a little winter chill stop them!

A yearly tradition, the Niseko Town Yakiniku Night will be coming back to Niseko Town on the 11th of February, 2018. Visitors can enjoy cooking a variety of meats and veggies over a grill above hot coals, barbecuing Japanese style – with chopsticks, paper plates and plenty of Yakiniku sauce.

Niseko Town locals put on a show on this night with snow sculptures and illuminations on and around the picturesque Niseko Station building. The night finishes off with fireworks from 7.45 PM, and Kiranoyu Onsen (right opposite the station) will stay open until 9 pm so you can warm up after a night out in the snow.

For ¥1,500 a head you get a variety of beef, lamb, and chicken skewers, a range of barbecue-friendly pre-sliced veggies, and a ticket for the Kiranoyu Onsen too – to wash off the barbecue smell afterward.

The event is limited to 250 tickets, so be sure to get in early – call the Niseko Tourism Board or visit one of these Niseko Town retailers to pick up a ticket:

  • Kiranoyu Onsen
  • Emodoran Niseko
  • Cafe Nupuri
  • Farmers  Kitchen Ponpon
  • Niseko Chomin Centre
  • Hokkaido Lion Adventure
  • Maeda Store
  • Niseko View Plaza
  • Radio Niseko

Or show up on the night and buy ingredients on-site if there’s any left, first come, first served so head out early to avoid disappointment!
