Volunteers needed for Niseko Tsunami Relief Program

By 18th July 2012September 4th, 2013

The Niseko Tsunami Relief Program, a project to accept refugees from areas affected by the tsunami disaster and initiated by volunteers from Kutchan-town, Niseko-town and Hokkaido Voluntary evacuation Support Network , is preparing for its launch during the coming summer holiday season. The Hokkaido Voluntary evacuation Support Network seeks to provide an escape to those affected by the tsunami, earthquake, and radiation.
Moving forward, the program will need volunteers to help make the program a success. The majority of the refugees are mothers with young children, the program will begin 30 July, and run until the 24 August. Children are half of the group, and we need to tailor the program to create fun and inexpensive activities for the kids. Volunteers are needed for welcoming and orientation, activities, event, and local area guiding. Any help will be appreciated, from 1 hour a week to full time. If there is an area you would like to help, please let us know. The first volunteer meeting is 18 July, at 6pm at Owashi Lodge in the basement.
