An established Tokyo art gallery that prides itself on having pioneered the introduction of European modern masters to Japan will show case some of its wares in Niseko for a week leading up to Christmas.
Galerie Tamenaga, which first opened its doors in Tokyo’s upmarket Ginza district in 1969, will display works by internationally recognised artists at an exhibition at Hirafu 188 running from 18 December through Christmas Day.

As well as Tokyo, Galerie Tamenaga also has galleries in Osaka and Paris.

“Galerie Tamenaga will bring artists that could create a harmony between the beautiful nature, architecture, interior and arts for their home away from home. Each artist demonstrates unique visual experiences, and their stunning artworks propose an introduction to their scope of the world,” the gallery says.

Artists represented at the Niseko exhibition will be Tchinai Kyosuke, Tom Christopher, Takehito Sugawara, Chen Jiang Hong and Lorenzo Fernandez.

An opening reception will be held on 18 December from 5 to 8pm with a menu of finger food from Powbar and sparkling Hakkaisan sake. Powbar catering service opened recently in Niseko town and will be serving an interesting selection of “nibbles” such as colourful locally-grown vegetables.

The exhihibition runs from 18-25 December on level 5 of the Hirafu 188 Building (home to Sapporo Drug store) half way up Hirafu Zaka Street (the main street of Hirafu).
