The Mountain Is Opening Up

By 16th December 2010August 27th, 2013

IT was less than a week ago that people were walking around, scratching their heads in bewilderment, wondering if they were really at a ski-resort. But, as we know, all it takes is a few good days of snow to transform the mountain and the town.

Consistent snow since the start of the week, coupled with a return to usual winter temperatures have helped to get the resort up to speed, with nine of the Niseko United lifts running, including the Hirafu Gondola, Swinging Monkey and Hanazono #2 & #3 hooded quads.

It's not just Hirafu that is up and running, Niseko Village has two lifts running and Annupuri has four lifts open, including the Annupuri Gondola.

People were queuing up in the freezing temperatures outside the Hirafu Gondola this morning, eager to get in first tracks.

There was perfect, un-crowded groomed corduroy runs, flanked either side by fresh powder that was bringing huge smiles to those lucky enough to get in early.

And, the good news is it’s only going to keep getting better as the season progresses.
