WHILE not a surfing mecca, Hokkaido still has its fair share of great surf locations, and when the weather conditions are right, surfing here can be quite enjoyable.
And, for those of you who think it might be too cold to surf here in summer, spare a thought for Niseko’s diehard winter surfers trudging down through the knee-deep snow before getting into the frigid waters in a full-body wetsuit.
