Stepping out of the cold and into the fridge

By 2nd December 2009August 27th, 2013

LOCALS chilled out in ‘The Fridge Door Bar’ – a.k.a Gyu – last night for the season opening of the Lower Village watering hole down the bottom of Yotei-Zaka Street.

It was a low-key affair, with everyone who squeezed tightly through the bright red little door sitting around sipping on their draft beer, Guinness, and even some deliciously warming mulled wine.

But drinks aren’t all punters enjoy about this little Hirafu institution. There were once again a collection of funky trinkets that adorn the quaint little bar – from retro records to pianos, old sewing machines, and a voluptuous little portrait of ‘Jeannie’ that sits atop the chamber pot that you’ll just have to see for yourself.

Powderlife was also told from a reliable food source in the know that there will be some tasty bar snacks down at Gyu throughout the season, with the piece de la resistance a roll of prosciutto.

Even though you step in from the chilly outdoors through a literal fridge door, Gyu the ‘The Fridge Door Bar’ is now open for business in more warming ways than one.
