By 5th February 2018Niseko Snow Report

5 cm of fresh snow has accumulated in Niseko in the 12 hours to 7am.

Conditions at Hirafu midway station (820m)
Snowfall estimated: 10 cm
Temperature:  -6 °C
Wind:  ESE 11 m/s

Conditions observed in Niseko Town (139m)
Snowfall observed: 5 cm
Temperature:
  -1.7 °C
Wind: ESE 4.1 m/s

New snow covered Niseko town and now stopped falling. I went to Niseko Village last early gondola and enjoyed groomers yesterday.

This new snow is not enough to fill out old tracks. If the top lifts open, there might be some fresh snow, hopefully it’s not too windy. I might go to Grand Hirafu to enjoy groomers again. If you are tired of groomers session, it might be good to have a day trip to Sapporo. The 69th Sapporo Snow Festival is opening today. It is one of Japan’s largest and most distinctive winter events. Every year, the number of ice sculptures on display totals around 400, and more than two million people visit. The best place to get an overview of the creations is from the TV Tower at the Odori Park site.

It’s supposed to start snowing soon, let’s see and wait.
