Pow Onslaught

By 16th January 2011June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

TWO weeks ago there were complaints about there not being enough snow. Now, some people around town who have the unfortunate task of shoveling twice a day, are grumbling about too much snow!

While it’s not unusual for it to snow for days on end in Niseko, there has been nearly ten straight days of sustained snowfalls, and subsequently, just as many powder mornings.

This onslaught of Japow has allowed ski-patrol to start opening backcountry access gates, and as of today, all except the peak gate (Gate 3) have opened, at least at some stage in the past few days. For more information on backcountry gates, check niseko.nadare.info

And the forecast? It’s not going to stop! Temperatures are set to drop again, and heavy snowfalls are predicted for the next week.
