Nijo Fish Market

By 17th December 2011August 27th, 2013

Nijo Fish Market is to Sapporo what internationally famous Tsukiji market is to Tokyo.

While Tsukiji is the biggest seafood market in the world and one of Tokyo’s top tourist attractions, Nijo offers a similar experience on a much smaller scale. Hokkaido is rated as one of the top-seafood destinations in Japan and with dozens of little restaurants and food stalls in the market you can try some of the finest fresh seafood the island has to offer.

Hokkaido hairy crabs, juicy oysters and scallops are just some of the delicacies that can be enjoyed raw, cooked or grilled. If you want to do some souvenir shopping, there is a huge selection of packed seafood. Best to get there early if you want to sample fish that’s just come from the sea!
