Spotted in the crowd were members of MTV’s 30-strong travelling crew, including VJs Darren McMullen and Erin McNaught, rockers Art vs. Science and DJ Anna Lunoe.
We caught up with Erin to find out how the MTV Japan Jam is going so far and what she thinks of Japan.
Where are you from?
Brisbane, Australia
Is it your first time to Japan?
Actually, it’s my second. I worked as a model in Tokyo when I was 21. But I never really saw anywhere in Japan.
First time in Niseko?
Yes.
And what have you heard about Niseko?
It’s pretty much one of the best places to snowboard in the world.
Ski or snowboard?
Snowboard.
Thing that have made you look twice in Japan?
The stimulation in Tokyo – we went shopping in Shibuya 109 – the department store and its 7 levels of techno music and everything is so loud and flashy. And all the girls – they must spend hours getting ready. Every girl looks like a doll in Tokyo – eyelashes, hair, outfits. I feel like such a scrubba [ehhh?].
Have you picked up any Japanese?
Sukoshi. I’m trying.
So what’s your role in MTV Japan Jam?
Hosting some of the events – but mainly enjoying ourselves, partying, snowboarding and learning more about Japan.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
From my mum – don’t ever try to be any one but who you are.
