Monster storm still stays on Northern Japan

By 27th December 2017Niseko Snow Report

10 – 40 cm of fresh snow has accumulated in Niseko in the 12 hours to 7am.

Conditions at Hirafu midway station (820m)
Snowfall estimated: 10-40 cm
Temperature:  -14 °C
Wind:  WNW 14 m/s

Conditions observed in Niseko Town (139m)
Snowfall observed: 10 cm
Temperature:
  -10 °C
Wind: W 3 m/s

The storm stays still in Hokkaido, blizzard continues and it’ SUPER COLD!! -10 °C outside in Niseko town this morning.

Hopefully it will calm down slowly today. It seems less windy than yesterday so more lifts are hopefully open today. Visibility is poor and it’s still super windy. Be careful not to get frostbite. Please ride carefully, there are ice balls and icy bottom underneath created 2 days ago. I will go to Grand Hirafu because I think more lifts open there. Please check the latest lift status before you go,  if it freezes again, I will just call them and ask directly.

Let’s hope the storm will go away soon.
