IF you’ve ever travelled to Sapporo via Nakayama-toge, you’ll no doubt have come across an enormous black building called 万代 (Mandai), with giant yesteryear movie poster billboards.
For those who have never ventured inside, this veritable treasure trove of secondhand memorabilia, clothing, electronics, games, books and sporting goods, you’re missing out. It can be quite daunting and claustrophobic walking through the narrow, crowded aisles, but if you look, you’re bound to find something you didn’t realise you needed. Not the cheapest secondhand store around, but it’s certainly the most eclectic.
