From Bluebird to Whiteout

Wind chills of – 28 degrees Celcius in last night’s storm, bluebird and milder temperatures early this morning and now it’s whiteout – Niseko’s weather can be unpredictable. One thing is for sure: The powder is back and with it light to moderate snowfall until the end of next week, according to the local forecast.

Expect wind to be strong in the next couple of days and well into the weekend, with wind chills below – 20 degrees at an altitude of 1156m. It will get milder on Sunday with maximum temperatures of minus 6 in the daytime and wind chills of “only” – 13. As of Tuesday, temperatures will drop again significantly down to – 12 in the daytime with wind chills of – 23 degrees Celcius.

After a series of bluebird days in late January and the snow tracked out all over the mountain, it was about time for the current heavy snowfall.
