First flakes fall for 2012/13

By 13th October 2012September 9th, 2013

Residents of Niseko woke this morning to see the first sight of snow for the coming winter.

Local Makoto Yamada snapped this pic of snow filling the higher gullies of Mt Yotei this morning before clouds covered it for much of the rest of the day.

Temperatures have been steadily dropping in recent weeks with overnight minimums below 10C (50F) and daily maxes around 15C (59F).

The autumn colours are just starting to come out now, kicking off the official unofficial run towards winter.
