First Blanket of Snow in Hirafu Village

By 15th November 2011August 27th, 2013

It's dumping right now! Hirafu village is covered by a thick blanket of snow.

Yesterday we saw our first snowflakes at village level for the winter season of 2011/12, but not enough to cover the buildings and the ground. Looking at the weather forecast though, everyone in town knew that there was more snow coming. You could feel it in the air; all the construction workers were working long hours and frantically trying to finish their building projects before the snow takes over town.

This morning we woke up to 8 cm of fluffy Niseko snow, and there were big smiles on the faces of all the locals who live to ski and snowboard. It is snowing and the forecast predicts that it will continue to do so for the rest of the week.
