Find Shelter under Herbie’s Umbrella

By 27th January 2012August 27th, 2013

IF you’re skiing down the Alpen or Kogen run in a blizzard, keep your eyes focused on the flashing lights of Herbie’s Umbrella Bar. Hot sake, three beers on tap, hot chocolate, katsu curry and octopus dumplings are on the menu if you need a quick warm-up before heading straight back to the slopes.

Open from 11am till late, this is the only ski-in, ski-out bar in Hokkaido according to manager Sam. For clear days, Herbie has built a mini rail park for jibbers to enjoy, and a toboggan slide made from snow for kids to play on.

For snuggling up inside try and get there on time for the Happy Hour from 3-4pm when all beers, spirits, and shots of schnapps are only ¥400.
