Black Diamond Tours’ First Backcountry Seminar

By 9th December 2011June 28th, 2014

Black Diamond Tours held their first backcountry awareness seminar today at Tamashii Bar. Andrew Spragg, manager of BDT, shared important information on where to buy proper backcountry gear, when and how to use it, and how to assess avalanche terrain.

The most important thing passed on at today’s seminar though was getting the word out about BD’s new location in Niseko Village, and also that BD will continue to offer their free 1 hour backcountry awareness seminar every Tuesday night at 6pm from the new office.

If you’ve checked out one of the seminars and you would like to further your backcountry knowledge you should take advantage of Black Diamond’s early season AST1 avalanche course over the weekend of Dec 17 and 18. The course usually costs ¥23,000, but they are offering an early season rate of ¥15,000. This includes 2 full days of instruction, free use of backcountry equipment, course manual, and a certificate from the Canadian Avalanche Association upon completion.
