China and the opportunities that can be extracted from Film Tourism

Imagine the beautiful scenery of Niseko up on the silver screen for the world to see, this alone could be the catalyst behind a persons decision to visit our district.  As a Tourist destination, this type of PR can not be ignored.

The 2008 movie (If you are the one) by famous Chinese Director Fei Cheng Wu Rao was a major hit in China.   The main satge for this film was Kushiro and Lake Akan in eastern Hokkaido. this film caused a major stir in China and was the catalyst behind a major tourism growth in the area’s where the film was shot, as the chinese people wanted to visit the area’s where their Hero’s and Heroine’s were filmed.

Since this film was screened and gained emense popularity in China, many districts throughout Japan have been putting together bids to secure future films for their districts.  The world of film is not easy and it is important that everyone in the host district is aware of what is required of them and understands the film making process.  This way the very best results can be acheived for the film maker the audience and the host community.

This is a fantastic opportunity presented by the Niseko Town Council for members of the public to hear about the film industry and its associated benefits, directly from a film location organisor.  Mr Ryuichi Watanbe of Tokyo is currently in charge of the bids by several Japanese districts to become host districts for different films to be shot in the near future.

The evening promises to be very interesting and we look forward to seeing as many people as we possibly can from around the district.  The re is no need to register and there is no charge for attendance.
