“BAFU BAFU” everyday!!

By 19th December 2017Niseko Snow Report

20 cm of fresh snow has accumulated in Niseko in the 12 hours to 7am.

Conditions at Hirafu midway station (820m)
Snowfall estimated: 30 cm
Temperature:  -10 °C
Wind:  WNW 7 m/s

Conditions observed in Niseko Town (139m)
Snowfall observed: 20 cm
Temperature:
  -5 °C
Wind: WNW 2 m/s

It was snowing all day yesterday, it might be more than 40 cm in 24 hours. This is not crazy, classic Niseko.

I went to Hanazono yesterday, snow was the deepest in this season so far. Japanese use lots of “onomatopoeia” . We say “Bafu Bafu” for super deep powder, like “How is the snow?” “Oh, Cho(super) Bafu Bafu!!”

So it’s Bafu Bafu everywhere in Niseko today. It will be deeper than yesterday. Try to keep your speed and do not enter the flat area. I might to to Niseko Village as there are many steep courses. By the way, I saw many small car accidents yesterday. Please drive slowly and safely.

Snow will keep falling till Tuesday.
