Niseko Snow Report // 31 January // 2012

By 31st January 2012June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Just a dusting this morning (5cms) to cover the tracks of yesterday's fun but that's offset by the amazing bluebird conditions. Cool temps again though so do rug up.

If you're chasing the classic Yotei snapshot today's the day as we're expecting the weather to close in for the next few days, and to bring more snow with it as well, intensifying towards the weekend.

Check your current lift movements here before you head up, or if you're planning to head out somewhere side / slack / backcountry-ish; have a look at the backcountry report here. Have a great day whereever you end up!

As this January wraps up there's a couple of things to look back at and feel great about – more January bluebird days than I can ever remember, but wonderful snow as well! Record setting snow according to the Japan Meteorological Agency which has issued warnings about the intensity of this year's snowfalls. Yesterday a 95m long bridge collapsed under the weight of accumulated snow, and so far this season some 46 people have been killed by snow – mainly in snowclearing accidents. (See that's why I don't shovel snow – nothing to do with me being lazy at all!)

Enjoy!
