Niseko Snow Report // March 18 // 2010

By 18th March 2010June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Yes, it is mid-March, but in Niseko that doesn’t mean that it can’t dump 30cm of fresh, dry mid-winter-like pow overnight and over half a metre in total over the past 36 hours or so.

It’s bottomless up on the mountain and it feels like January again, although without the crowds! There will be fresh lines to be had all day without even having to venture far off the beaten track, and it’s mostly locals and a few late-season holiday makers who have scored the jackpot.

Looks like there might not be much snow tonight, but there will still be plenty of untouched lines tomorrow, and even the tracked stuff will still be good. A warm front might put a bit of a dampener on things through the weekend, but looking good again after that.

***Avalanche risk will be high today. Not much need to head out back as there will plenty inbounds to choose from. If you do intend to go outside the gates, make sure you have your backcountry safety gear and know how to use it, and check the daily avalanche report here.
