Niseko Snow Report // January 30 // 2010

Keep your curtains closed… Go back to bed… Nothing to see out there.

Except 40cms+ of powder perfection that is!

It looks like the light snow falling out there now will continue through the day, building to a good dump tonight. (Tomorrow morning should be great!) Light winds out of the west shouldn’t cause the lifts much trouble, so we’ll probably see the entire mountain open – including the peak gates.

Most Avalanches happen during or just after snow storms, so expect the Avvy conditions out in the backcountry to be dodgy. DIg a pit. Know the terrain. Watch for trigger points and know where you can run to if something happens. If you aren’t 100% on all the above I’d stay inbounds today! There’s so much fresh that you’ll have a bag of fun on the front of the mountain anyway. Check the latest Avvy conditions here if you are thinking of going out there.
