Niseko Snow Report // February 23 // 2010

By 23rd February 2010June 28th, 2014Niseko Snow Report

Big fat flakes are falling outside my window as I type and that’s something to get excited about…

The winds of yesterday have blown off to bother someone else. We had a short but intense snow dump last night which left some ten cms of fluffy white stuff scattered everywhere. This should be pretty nice cover up higher and in sheltered areas where the sun and wind won’t have crusted things up at all.

Today should clear, hopefully to blue skies again, with very cold temps tonight ahead of a warm change Thursday.

The backcountry gates should open today. Beaware that with the winds of yesterday the depth of snow cover may change dramatically in different areas of the same run – going from deep deeps to hard ice in the space of a few metres, so appropriate caution is advised. Check the Avalanche report here before you head out.
