The Niseko Style Running Map has just been published by the Niseko Promotion Board! It’s the perfect resource for all those looking to go for a run during their trip to Niseko or considering Niseko as a destination for their next running holiday. The map guides you to sightseeing spots, local farmers’ markets, cafés and other places that will make your runs even more enjoyable!Take in Niseko's beautiful natural surroundings at your own pace and chat with the friendly locals! Running is becoming increasingly popular with visitors from all over the world and we can assure you that Niseko can cater to all of your runner's needs! The Map will be delivered to the tourism desk of JR Sapporo Sta., roadside rest areas and tourist desks in the Niseko area. -
Annuppuri Onsen Yugokorotei temporarily closed
Due to maintainance works, Niseko Annupuri Onsen "Yugokorotei" will be temporary closed from May 15th 2012. The day-use onsen and accomodation facilities are scheduled to re-open in early June. Press release (in Japanese only) -

Niseko Sakura Event – Choir Recital
The Niseko Yoku Aisuru Kai (President, Mr Hideo Nakajima) has announced the Niseko Sakura – Choir Recital Event, which is held in celebration of the 1000 cherry blossom tree project which started in 2007. The Cherry Blossom trees were gradually planted on Miyayama, located near the Takeo Arishima Memorial Museum in Niseko Town. Last year a milestone, 1000 Cherry blossom trees were added to the plantation on Miyayama, which consists of the Ezoyamasakura and various other varieties of Cherry blossom. A song titled “Niseko no sora ni” was also created last year and this was published on the 19th May 2012 at the Niseko Chomin Center (Convention Center). The very first “Niseko Sakura Choir Recital Festival” is to be staged by the Niseko Sakura Choir Committee (Mr Kaizaburo Saito, Chairman). The Niseko Sakura Choir Committee are furthering the wider communities knowledge of the “Niseko 1000 Sakura project” and Spring in Niseko, through their efforts. -
Pension Full Note 15th anniversary concert @ Jazz Bar Half Note
period 19th May 2012, from 19:30 Infomation To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pension Full Note, bassist Hideaki Kanazawa and pianist Eishin Nose will be giving a special performance at Half Noteon May 19th 2012! Artist profiles: Eishin Nose: The pianist lives and performs in New York. He does not only play jazz, but also classical sheet music and symphonies and has recorded albums in several musical genres. His album "Blue Canary" has been included in Swing Journal's Gold Disc selection. Hideaki Kanazawa: He has performed together with famous musicians Hino Terumasa, Sadao Watanabe, Yasuko Agawa and counts among the leading bassists of Japanese jazz. His record "Happy Talk", for which he invited Hank Jones, demonstrates impressively that the bass is a musical instrument capable of transporting deep musicality. -

Prefectural Highway 66 Iwanai-Toya Line reopen 17th May.
Prefectural Highway 66, (Iwanai-Toya Line; commonly known as "Panorama Line") will reopen at 10 am on May 17th 2012. Furthermore, the stretch between Kutchan Hanazono ( around Weiss ski resort) and Niseko Goshiki Onsen on Prefectural Highway 58 (Kutchan-Niseko Line, commonly known as "Eco-line") that has been closed for the winter will reopen on Friday, May 25th at 10 am. The toilet facilities at Lake Hangetsu can be used again from Friday, May 18th. -

Korean travel agent “Tour ‘n Ski” releases ski movie!
“Tour n Ski”, a Korean travel agent specializing in ski travel, has released its own independent ski movie on May 12th 2012. The film is planned to receive promotional screenings this season on various occasions, such as exhibitions, info events and ski conventions. Following the company’s ski exhibition in Seoul in December last year, the film was shot later in the year in cooperation with Goldwin. The film, titled “Niseko begins 2012 – images from a Japanese ski journey in Niseko Hokkaido with the Lee Jung Sub ski team.” brilliantly captures the defining features and atmosphere of the resort and includes contributions by representatives of four different ski resort operators in Grand Hirafu.。“Tour n Ski” (shot March 4th – 8th 2012). Weather, Golden Week and our New Holiday Niseko Japan Website
The Last few weeks has seen a rock n roll of weather, from warm spring days and rain during Golden Week to a dusting of snow just 2 days ago on the mountain tops, to once again a pretty normal mild spring Monday.
Golden Week, a week where public holidays string together to make a week long holiday, started off warm with great spring riding and BBQ and beer weather for the holiday makers that came to Niseko. The end of the week saw the clouds come in and rain on and off making the last few days of lift operations at Hirafu and Annupuri not the best unfortunately.

Opening date for Niseko Tokyu Golf Course
Niseko Tokyu Golf Course’s planned May 12 opening date has been postponed due to the heavy snowfalls and remaining snowpack this year. Niseko flowers in bloom
It is getting warmer and the snow is melting in Niseko. Flowers are starting to bloom all over the area. When exactly the flowers start blooming differs from place to place, and please come to Niseko to check them up yourself! ■In Sakuragaoka park outside Niseko Station the fawn lilies and corydalis ambigua has been in bloom! ■ Around the Arishima footpaths you can look at fawn lilies, corydalis ambigua and skunk cabbages. ■Cherry trees are getting in bloom through out Kutchan and Niseko. ■"Mishima san no Shibazakura - Moss Phlox" in Kutchan is not yet in bloom.Please check the latest information HERE(English available). This weekend too Niseko "Hanami" will be held in Niseko Town, which makes for an action-packed trip! -

Niseko Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival)
Every year since 2007, the Niseko wo koyonaku ai suru association (represented by Mr. Hideo Nakajima), is carrying out a cherry tree planting event at Miyayama hill, close to the literary museum dedicated to Takeo Arishima, the famous writer so inseparably connected to Niseko. The name of the event is “Niseko thousand cherry tree project”. As part of the movement, an event entitled “Niseko Sakura Festival” will be staged from April 28 over a 37 day period. 30 businesses and institutions will be participating. Between May 12th and 20th, the footpaths around the thousand cherry trees of Niseko, Miyayama Hill or the “Kaributo Hakkei” (eight spots of distintguished natural beauty) will turn into locations for hanami parties. At the same time, Niseko’s outdoor operators will cooperate to offer spring activities to please all the senses. They include sakura discounts on rafting and horse riding tours, or canoe tours that include cherry blossom cookies and snacks. -

5月6日を持ちまして、今シーズンのスキー場営業がすべて終了と
なりました。シーズン中のご利用を心よりお礼申し上げます。今冬は、シーズン当初から近年例を見ない降雪に恵まれ、そして、
記念すべき開場50周年という、最高のシーズンの幕開けとなりました。
また、シーズン中も引き続き降雪が続き、気温が低い日が続き、
良いコンデションを皆様にお楽しみ頂けたかと思います。50周年という節目の年が終わり、次の50年へ向けてさらなる進化
を、そして、引き続き皆様に愛され続けるスキー場を目指し、
半年間の準備作業に入らせて頂きます。来シーズンもニセコグラン・ヒラフへのご愛顧宜しくお願いいたします。

The idea for “Mori no Café-fes” (“Café festival in the forest”) was born in Tokyo, combining great music, great coffee, and handicraft art.
