Description

Black Diamond Lodge is the place to go if you’re a real skier or snowboarder. You’re not in the middle of the apres action, and you won’t be sleeping on Egyptian cotton, but that don’t matter. You want to get as deep as possible as often as possible while you’re in Niseko. Well sir, your adventure starts here.

Black Diamond Lodge was founded and is run by hardcore Canadian skiers and snowboarders, and attracts the same calibre of crew who will be staying with you. Talk in the evening isn’t about bars and restaurants, it’s about where you went and what you scored, and where you’re going tomorrow. In fact there’s every chance there you’ll be having these conversations with pros because they want Black Diamond to point them to where they’ve going to get the best pow for their photo and video shoots – check this clip from the Poor Boyz Productions video Reasons of Chris Benchetler and the legendary late JP Auclair for starters!

The extras on offer at Black Diamond Lodge include discounts the widest range of serious ski tours all across the region with Black Diamond Tours (including heli and cat skiing); powder ski and gear rental including avalanche equipment; evening buses to local onsens, wifi; PCs so you don’t have to lug your own; and onsite car rental. Not to mention the local knowledge and communal stoke that’s bouncing off the walls! It really is the ultimate place to make the most of your Niseko and Hokkaido ski experience.

Black Diamond Lodge Accommodation

Black Diamond Lodge doesn’t pretend to compete with the Hilton. It’s a pretty basic lodge with shared bathrooms – separated for ladies and gents. But it’s warm, has comfortable bedding, has great friendly staff and most of all – keeps the snow out until you’re ready to hit it the next day!

There are western-style rooms, or traditional Japanese tatami (straw mat) rooms – here you sleep on the floor on futons which is a great experience, but might be a little hard and unforgiving on the body for fussy sleepers.

The room configurations available (if you book early!) are twin tatami rooms, three-person tatami rooms, twin Western rooms, twin western rooms with an optional extra bed, twin bedrooms with optional extra bed and private shower, a five-person room made up of two bunks and a single bed with an optional extra sofa bed, a quad room made up of two bunk beds with an optional extra bed, and a dorm room with two bunks and a single bed.

And boom – breakfast buffet is included.

Black Diamond Lodge Location

Black Diamond Lodge is located in Niseko Village (formerly Higashiyama), which is right in the middle of the four Niseko resorts. The lodge itself is about 350m from the Niseko Village lifts which operate out from the base of the Hilton Niseko Village Hotel.

The lodge houses it’s own awesome restaurant and bar which will keep anyone here for the snow happy for weeks on end. But if you do happen to want to trek out for other wining and dining experiences, not far from the lodge are several bars and restaurants to choose from. The Green Leaf Hotel is just a couple of hundred metres away and has bars and restaurants, and just beyond it is the Hilton, which has a great number of top restaurants and bars and lounges. We do recommend you try the breakfast buffet at least once – but not on a powder day!

To get to Hirafu or the other resorts – Hirafu, Hanazono or Annupuri, just across the road from Black Diamond Lodge is the Niseko United Shuttle Bus stop, which is included in the price of lifts tickets. If you don’t have a ticket it costs up to Y500. There is also a Niseko Village shuttle which can take you into Hirafu.
