The opening of Opening Party Season in Niseko

By 28th November 2013March 22nd, 2021

We are all impatiently awaiting the opening of the ski hill, but it is also the season for a different kind of opening, which is almost as exciting.

Niseko is very much a seasonal area, and local businesses make the bulk of their profits between December and March. Many companies close for the entirety of the sunny season, which kind of sucks for year-round locals but gives us all the opportunity to celebrate at their seasonal opening parties.

Basically it is a great reason to party and check out all the new seasonals, and so the bars pull out all the stops to set the tone for the rest of the season.

First up on the opening party agenda we have Splash, who are hosting their shindig on the 3rd of December. This roomy pub has a pool table and a sweet set up, and for opening night they are offering ¥3000 nomi hodai (all you can drink) on selected drinks between 7pm-11pm.

Niseko Sports Opening December 5th

Fusion has been newly branded as Niseko Sports, and is having an event on December 5th that will include retail specials and some very advertised FREE BEER. Sign me up!

Also on the 5th is local hangout Tamashii Bar, who have yet to announce details but will definitely be having a live DJ. I am excited to check out their renovations, which included appropriating part of the actual bar from fallen comrade Paddy McGinty’s.

The 6th of December is Wild Bill’s opening party, and these cowboys are offering half-price drinks all night as well as a taiko drumming performance at 9 pm.

There is rumour that the Rhythm Snowsports opening will also be on the 6th, and if last year is anything to go by there will be giveaways, sales, and free drinks, which sounds like a great start to a night at Wild Bill’s.

It’s a double whammy on Saturday December 7th, with yakitori late-nighter Yosaku opening their doors, and new nightclub Edge Bar hosting patrons for the very first time.  Their offerings will include DJ’s and something else called Live Painting by Trick, which I am definitely going to investigate.

The 10th is the opening of red-cup bearers Bigfoot, who are notorious for drink specials, good times and massive burgers.

You’ve a couple of days to regroup before the opening party on the 13th at Lars Longcox, which is now in a prime après position next to the Snow Crystal, opposite The Vale Niseko.

Black Diamond Lodge Opening

Black Diamond is also taking advantage of Friday the 13th to hold a killer party (haha), with DJ’s, food and drinks.

Last on my calendar (for the moment) on the 14th is the opening of Little Red Momiji’s, a gyoza and sake bar that should be a welcome, lounge type addition to the pub-studded Niseko.

I am still waiting to hear on dates from hillside blo blo and ritzy cocktail lounge and bistro The Barn. Forgive me for the host of other venues that I am forgetting!

However this lot should satisfy even the thirstiest of punters, so get your drinking hat and your dancing shoes, because opening season is here!
