Niseko Snow Report & Forecast 3 December, 2015

By 3rd December 2015Niseko Snow Report

Good news and bad news today… the bad news first. The lifts are closed due to high winds. Also, a warm front has come through turning any precipitation into rain!

Now let’s turn that frown upside down with the good news :) A low pressure system is about to move over Hokkaido, sucking cold air down from Siberia which will turn that rain into fluffy, dry powder! That should happen up high from this afternoon, and down here at village level sometime this evening.

We’re expecting to wake up tomorrow to a good covering of pow – maybe 10cm, maybe 30cm. Let’s wait and see. Then it’s looking like it will snow solidly for the next three days or so, right through until Monday morning. Pencil in a bluebird powder day on Monday.

>> Conditions observed 9am at Village level:

Overnight snow     0cm
Temperature     3°C
Snow depth     35cm

>> Conditions reported at 820m (Hirafu midway station):

Temperature     7°C
Snow depth     105cm
