A few cm of new snow has fallen in the last 12 hours.  It’s dark and snowing outside.

Heavy snow fall was expected last night but it seems like that snow just started falling this morning. It keeps falling today and tomorrow, night skiing could be another option for today.

Have you ever seen *Kagamimochi* in the town?  “Kagamimochi” is two rounds of rice cakes (mochi) with an orange on top, offered to Shinto and Buddhist deities on occasions such as the New Year. The name “kagami-mochi” was derived from its shape, which resembled a mirror in the old days. Kagamibiraki is an event held to wish for a peaceful year for the family by cutting a kagamimochi, cooking it in zoni or shiruko , and eating it. You can buy one at supermarket and put it on the table for the New Year:)

Strong wind is also forecast with heavy snow fall. Please check lifts states before you go riding and drive safely. Have a great powder day!
