24-hour snow     20-30cm
Temperature     -1°C
Snow depth     60cm

>> Conditions reported at 820m (Hirafu midway station):
Temperature     -5°C
Snow depth     175cm

 

Another 10cm+ overnight and 20-30cm in the past 24 hours. It’s really coming down hard out there now. This is awesome :)

Check out the live image from the official Powderlife Hirafu Lower Village Weather Station (PHLVWS) above. Note the high-tech Periodical Snow Gauge System (PSGS) – in the foreground you will notice the 24-hour Snow Accumulation Measurement (what we like to call the “24-hour SNA”). Towards the right of the image you will notice the 12-hour SNA – this was swept clean at 2400 hours last night. Not a massive dump over night but you can see it all adds up, and there’s more on the way!

Looking good for the next day or so and then looking like easing up for a few days before another storm a brewing. It looks like there’s going to be plenty of powder and fresh lines for all right through the Christmas period!
