HEL-lo sunshine!

By 18th December 2013March 22nd, 2021Niseko Snow Report

Niseko is famous for its incredible snowfall, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate a glorious sunny day! When we woke this morning to a clear blue sky we all scurried to get up the hill, because sunshine is a rare occurrence in Niseko and it is even more unusual for it to hang around all day like it did today.

The start of our first glorious run!

The Grand Hirafu terrain park is now open, and we cheerfully lapped it over and over from the Hirafu Gondola, cavorting in the sunny warmth and taking lots of happy snaps.

To be honest, I did a lot more photo taking than park hitting as what tricks I did attempt ended in tears, but even a few knocks couldn’t put a damper on my day.

I don't know what the trick is called but it looked pretty awesome

My park ratty friends were very excited about the new rails Hirafu have installed, which are apparently a lot better than last year. The first jump is a gentle tabletop and the big kicker is still down the bottom, obligingly situated with a backdrop of Yotei that provides a perfect photo op.

For any visitors who were disappointed not to see a snow cloud in sight, my advice is to revel in it while you can! Niseko will be dishing up plenty of the good white stuff soon enough.

By the way, I do realise that every single one of my pictures has Yotei in it, but she was at her best today!

Enjoy the sun while you can, party people!
